Duties and Responsibilities:
- Ensure and maintain the proper functioning of all vehicles in the fleet and ensure the proper maintenance of all vehicles.
- Oversee and monitor the mechanics in their daily routines and workload.
- Responsible coaching and counseling on poor performance and conducting performance reviews annually.
- Ensure all vehicles conform to the safety laws set out by the government and company standards.
- To ensure that information such as copies of old registrations, new registrations, sales contracts and safety inspections is submitted to accounts payable so that the fleet files can be kept current.
- Maintain up to date listing (inventory control) on all vehicles – trucks, tractors and trailers
- Update all equipment and tools inventory lists perpetually and ensure all tools are accounted for.
- Utilize the fleet software program to manage all aspects of parts, labor and the fleet.
- Make sure the proper maintenance and control of all inventories in the garage.
- Ensure all damaged trucks, tractors and trailers are taken out of service.
- Ensure all parts are delivered on time or make applicable arrangements to ensure timely delivery
- Make sure all equipment maintenance is performed per regulation. e. Emissions testing and licensing
- Coordinate annual safety inspections when required, as well as A and B checks. Follow up on repairs as necessary.
Requirements:
- 3-5 Year of previous experience as a Truck Mechanic Foreman/Supervisor is required
- 310 T or 310 J - Truck Mechanic license is required
- Must have experience as a truck mechanic
- Must be comfortable performing repairs when required and checking the mechanics work for quality assurance
- Experience managing a shop with Company owned fleet would be an asset
- Extensive Health and Safety guidelines and regulations an asset.
